Okay, here is the secret that will allow you to completely skip through the maze garden in Alone in the Dark. This was found by complete accident by me because I was trying to find a way into the house without going through the garden. Best of all, it automatically gives you everything you need from then on! So, here's that secret.
When you first arrive, kill the guard and take the Thompson. Then run all the way down to house (you might have to kill the Thompson guys though) and turn to your left past a gunner. Here you can refill on life using the flask you found earlier. This area should look like a dead end with the house and some bushes blocking you (don't worry, that gunner won't come after you). Then, walk all the way to the left and as far back as you can. You character should begin to float up on his back. DON'T WORRY! THIS IS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN! The screen will change and you'll be in the basement. You'll lose all weapons but that happens anyway. Be sure to read all the books b/c an item is in one of them that you'll need to leave the basement!
Well, this it. Use this only if you just can't get past the garden maze and only as a last resort. I accidentaly found this before I went through the maze and I'm having to go back to expirence the whole game. :)
